His bountiful black mane froths downward in matted locks behind his chiseled head, and his bright white star is half-hidden by the forelock draped over his eyes. He’s facing me, broad chest pointed right at me as if ready to run me down, his large, liquid eyes trained on me intently. I’m pretty sure he’s wondering why I’ve put him in this fenced paddock, separate from all the other horses, and what I’m going to do to him….”
